You are my King and my God, who decrees victories for Jacob. Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes. I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise you name forever.
This morning I asked the Lord HOW to have victory in my life ... I mean all the time victory. Even in the storms of life. I know that winds will come and winds will blow. But there has to be a way to have victory no matter what.
I learned a long time ago that the "peace like a river" is like a real river. There are times that the surface of a river is calm and looks like glass. But the current underneath is still moving along. And then there are the times that the surface of the river is raging and carrying all kinds of debris along with it. There again, the current underneath is still moving along in the same direction as when glass still.
Life is the surface of the river. There are times that all is calm. And it is easy to see God's reflection in our lives. Then, there are the times of turbulence and so much debris - no way to see a reflection at all. But underneath it all - good and bad times - there is the current of peace. That all is well. That all will be well. That everything moves along as it should - no matter what it looks like to those around us.
But what about victory? How to have that constant, consistent, victory in my life???
What is "victory"?
--a success or triumph over an enemy in battle.
--the decisive defeat of an opponent
--the taking over of control, with the obedience of the conquered (i like this definition!!!)
--a particularly outstanding triumph
--final and complete superiority in war
According to Psalm 44 ... God decrees victories for us.
--an authoritative order, one having the force of law
--one of the eternal purposes of God
--to command or ordain
--to pronounce a decision
Through God we push back our enemies ...
Push back =
--the forcing of an enemy to withdraw
--cause to move back by force
Through God's Name we trample our foes ... "At the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord"!
--to tread or step heavily and noisily (we are to be NOISY in prayer and in praise!!!)
--to tread heavily, roughly, or crushingly
--to act in a harsh and domineering manner
--to tread underfoot
--to put out or extinguish
I cannot trust in my own strength and abilities. But Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world!
God gives us victory over our enemies ... He puts our adversaries to shame.
--to present voluntarily and without expecting compensation
--to hand to someone
--to place in someone's care
--to yield, to influence, to force
--to reveal a confidence or a secret
--to be a source of
--to sacrifice or devote
IN GOD we boast ... Praising His Name forever!!!
--to speak with excessive pride
--a cause for pride
--to possess something to be proud of
This is how to have constant, consistent, victory in my life - no matter what!!!
Father, help me to remember this ... and to live it.
In Jesus' Name ...
