After much prayer and thought...we have decided to move back into the old homeplace house BUT we need help! The old adage about "it takes a village to raise a child"? Well it takes a village to make a disabled man safe and as independent as possible. If you can help or know someone who can, please contact us.
*Rick needs a recliner. Preferably an electric one. He has trouble getting down into the chairs as well as getting up. *The floor around the toilet needs repaired or replaced. As does the toilet. He needs a higher toilet, and one that is secure on the floor. *We have 3 doors that need screen doors on them. *Screens on the windows. *Ac's need to be taken to car wash and cleaned then oiled and put into the windows. *We have no refrigerator - must have one before we can stay there. *He needs a ramp for the side door and for the back door. *Shower hook ups are in the bathroom but no shower. He is not allowed to take baths due to the catheter, but he needs a way to be clean! *In order to have hot water we need propane. *He needs grab bars at several places in the house. I prayed A LOT before posting this. Counseling with a very wise woman as well. We are not sitting here with a hand out saying "gimme gimme" ...but Rick has worked for the public since he was 12 years old. He is one of the most giving men i have ever known. He is in a battle for life and health. As much as i would like to be able to do all these things for him, i cannot. I have talked to some and am making applications to have some of these things done. No guarantees that we will be accepted. But i am asking and seeking and knocking. If you know of an organization or a church or a grouo that helps like this PLEASE let me know. My whole purpose and focus is to give my husband the highest quality of life and the safest life possible. He needs his pride and his dignity. He needs to be independent. Please pray for us as we seek this for him. Thank you. GOD BLESS YOU. I LOVE YOU!
