Divinely favored. Fortunate.
Blissfully happy or contented.
Bringing happiness or thankfulness.
To bestow good of any kind upon.
To protect or guard from evil.
"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers."
Notice that we are not to walk nor stand nor sit ... we are to STAY AWAY!
Delight = a high degree of pleasure or enjoyment.
Joy. Something that gives great pleasure.
"But his delight is in the law of the Lord ..."
When was the last time I had real and true DELIGHT in the Word of God?
Do I look at reading the Word as a "duty" and "obligation" - or do I find JOY and DELIGHT in reading it?
Do I make time to read and study the Word?
How much time do I spend in front of the TV?
How much time do I spend on the computer?
Meditates = to engage in thought or contemplation.
To consider as something to be done.
"...and on his law he meditates day and night."
If I read the Word with the understanding that it was something to be DONE not something to be a "maybe" ... or if I felt like it ... or if it suits me ... but something to be DONE - no questions asked, no arguments made, no reasons given ...
What difference would it make in my life today?
How do I meditate on the Word "day and night" ???
First, by reading it at least once daily.
Second, memorize it - "hide it in my heart that I may not sin against Him."
Then, to use index cards, post it notes, scrolling messages on the computer - whatever I can, whatever works in my life - to keep the Word at eye level thru my day.
"in season" = a period when something is best or available.
A suitable, proper, fitting or right time.
To mature, ripen or condition by exposure to suitable conditions.
To accustom or harden.
At the right time.
"He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither."
A tree grows stronger with age ... a tree's roots grow deeper with age.
Jesus is our Living Water.
Am I planted?
"Whatever he does prospers..."
prospers = to be successful or fortunate.
"For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous."
God is good all the time.
He blesses us even though we have no credit for the blessing, and we certainly do not deserve such blessings.
We cannot earn His favor or His grace.
He wants to pour out His blessings on us.
Blessings above and beyond what we could ever hope for or think about or ask.
Father God, please help me to do this more and better.
Teach me your ways to be "blessed", and help me to learn them. Please count me among the "righteous" - and watch over my way.
**If ever I needed these words of encouragement and hope - it is now. Father, you know the emptiness of my heart and life without Rick. Thank you for being by my side thru it all. I love You.
In Jesus' Name ...**
