Rick has been fighting the coughing and congestion crud for a bit over a month now. He is tired and weary. His body is sore and weak.
He has continued to work.
He struggles to sleep and rest.
Tried just about everything on the market!
He gets this usually twice a year - when the seasons change from winter to spring and from fall to winter.
He has always had to fight against bronchitis/upper respiratory crud. Sigh.
Praying for the touch and healing of the Gentle Healer!
We are praying and seeking God's wisdom and direction for our life.
We want to be used of Him - in some way serving Him and His kingdom while we are here.
Will it be full time?
Or just where we are at the time?
We both need to lose weight and get in shape. Not easy to do at any age - seems to get harder after 50! Especially when there are other health concerns and "issues" to deal with.
We are trying to maintain the attitude that we eat to live, NOT live to eat.
We are bombarded with food at every turn in life.
Food is called upon as the answer to everything good or bad!
Feed a cold, starve a fever. Or isthe other way? Who knows! Chicken soup.
A piece of cake or pie (or maybe the WHOLE thing!) ...
a pint (or gallon) of ice cream.
Worried? Eat something - you will feel better.
Nothing to do but wait anyway, have something to eat while you wait.
Happy? What better way to celebrate and express that happiness than to eat a big meal?
We want to ENJOY the food and the fellowship around the table ... but goodness!
Food is NOT the answer to everything!!!
And it seems the older we get - the harder it is to enjoy the various foods.
Especially when you have other health issues that prevent you from eating those things that you so much want!
Gallbladder ... no greasy foods. No high fat foods. Small meals. Lots of water.
Gout ... what a list of "no-no" foods! And an even greater list of foods that can be eaten in moderation and only occasionally!
High blood pressure ... less and less sodium. Less high fats. Less carbs.
Diabetes ... little to no carbs. Little to no high fats.
*The list goes on and on ...*
But wait! We live in East Texas!
The "high fat - high sugar, everything fried" capital!!!
Life changes. Doesn't always feel good. Isn't always easy. But, it changes ... and it goes on.
We have to make a choice - Get busy living ... or get busy dying.
Lord help us choose life!
