These precious lives and faces.
This is why you PAY ATTENTION
to the flashing lights of the bus, to the STOP arm. THIS is why you STOP!
This is why you give time and space to the children.
A FAMILY'S PAIN: Six-year-old twin brothers Xzavier and Mason and their 9-year-old sister, Alivia were killed when a truck hit them as they were getting on the school but this morning.
Prayers for the family.

here in the darkness as the cold closes in
i can see a distant light cresting the horizon.
faint but true.
the road behind me has been long and winding
fraught with danger and with pleasures too
that have broke many a man, but here i still stand.
memories now hold me close in their embrace.
faces and places i keep tucked away here in my heart.
gentle moments that keep me warm here in the dark.
alone on this winding road.
and as the darkness closes in.
slithering beneath my clothes and down into my skin.
i think of you my dear friend the one who's always been.
so true so loyal. loving and kind.
standing right beside me each and every time.
shoring me up, giving me strength.
even now in my darkest hour as the cold seeps down to the bone.
to what remains of my soul.
a light flickers on the horizon growing stronger.
brighter.
calling me calling my name.
whispering.
a comforting glow warming my soul.
reaching into the darkness and letting me know.
that i am not alone.

~ poem "I Am Not Alone" by Michael Traveler, author/poet

Many years ago, back when I was young, dreaming of following the rails to the distant horizon and adventures that lay beyond, I could have never imagined the life I have led, where the road would take me, the joys, the sorrows, the beauty, the horror that I would see with my eyes, touch with my hands and feel in my heart.
Some things I wish I would never have had to endure. Some things I never dreamed possible I thank God came true. Although the journey has led me to joys and breathtaking beauty beyond my wildest dreams and to horrors and moments heartbreaking that I thought I would not, could not survive..
But it has been each of these moments, both the good and the bad, that have made me who I am today.

This is the Sam Houston Schoolhouse in Maryville, Tennessee. Sam Houston taught school in this building in the year 1812 when he was 18 to pay down some debts. His students ranged from six to 60 and tuition was $8 per term, payable 1/3 in corn, 1/3 in cash, and 1/3 in calico cloth.
In later years he said that teaching school was his favorite job. "I had a greater feeling of dignity and self satisfaction than from any honor or office that I have since held."
The only thing I see wrong? Needs more bubble wrap cause their feelings will still get hurt with just this little bit :(

What a glorious sunrise it was this morning. Well worth the detour and time to see, and get the pics. Thank you.

October 31 was not a Halloween celebration in our home when our kids were growing up.
It was Granny McCoy's birthday.
If we were close enough, we would go spend the evening with her, if not, we would always call her and let her know that we were celebrating with her.
Supper was cheeseburgers, because she loved cheeseburgers, and fries.
Sit around the table and play card games, while we had hot chocolate and fresh stove-popped popcorn. We would hide candy in the house thru the day, and make it a treasure hunt for the kids, ending the night.
I love you Granny McCoy, thank you for always loving us.
I miss you more today than ever.
Please give Rick a great big hug and sugar on the cheek for me.
Happy Heavenly Birthday!!!

One of the earliest known Dr Pepper advertisements showing a bottle, circa 1905. Thought you'd enjoy seeing it.

    Why this page?

I wanted a place to share coffee thoughts & memes. I use Facebook & Twitter to do just that, however, I realize that many people are getting fed up with all the drama that is on either, and both. So many that were using those 2 social medias to stay in touch, have taken a step back - yet they still want to know thoughts that go thru this scattered widow's brain. If you are interested, here it is :) - - without the drama.

God is God over the storms in my life & world -
and I am His.
Trusting in Him. Holding to His Promises as He holds me.

Learning to laugh, to love, & to live ... again - without Rick, but with God

Life goes on ... even when we don't want it to.

Great grief is indicative of a great Love.

Rick, my Sweetheart.
Margaret, his Beloved.
Always & Forever.
